Hey everyone,

the title already tells pretty much what I need. I am about to get 50,000 kbps down and 10,000 kbps up Internet and wanted to start streaming.

Current specs:

  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE (overclocked to 4.2 GHz)
  • Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2
  • GPU: Asus HD 7950
  • Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
  • Memory: 8GB 1333 MHz Ripjaws
  • PSU: Corsair CX750M

You can probably see that the CPU is my weak spot and I'd like to upgrade for streaming things like Diablo III on 1080p (30fps). I have already read that the AMD FX 8320 is a good choice for the budget and with my cooler it should be no problem to overclock it.

I also know that I'd need another mainboard, does anyone have a good recommendation for that? I'll go for dual SLI/Crossfire at max one day so 2 PCI-E slots will do and I won't be using it for anything else than gaming and streaming.

Intel CPUs can be recommended as well, I'm just not much into them and I have also heard that AMDs would perform better because of better multi-threading?

Any recommendation is appreciated, cheers!

AMD 8320 and a Sabertooth 990FX would be the best option, if your willing to OC your 8320 a little. If you dont want to OC but have the money then get an 8350 :) I have the same setup and it works great for streaming

asus sabertooth mobo is amasing

can you tell me how you are going to get 50,000Mbps and 10,000Mbps? Lol....

i guess he is from europe, for america it would be 50.000 and 10.000 Mbps, that means 50 and 10 Mbps or 50,000 and 10,000 Kbps.

FX-8320 would be the best choice and then get the motherboard that fits your budget.

Oh, wow.

By the way, there are countries in Europe that use commas for thousands and periods for decimals..

Like the United Kingdom..

Sorry for the confusion.

Of course I meant kbps (edited the post).

Would my overclocked 965 be capable of some games and if so, which ones (I know I probably have to test it and you can't tell because you don't have the very same CPU, I just want some ideas).

I thought the max speed of a LAN port is 1Gb/s c:

Its not?

Well, I'd never heard of cat 6 before, sorry. :b

How dafuq do you get them speeds anyway?

To put it simply, it isn't that simple and it is 7:00am for me atm so I am to tired to think.

Sometimes to get insanely fast speed you may be required to get a NIC that supports it, because motherboards often don't.

Also consumer-grade 2 gbps internet is being rolled out in Tokyo I believe.

We have the exact same GPU :)

Yeah, but that's Tokyo, the crazy buggers.

I'd look at these options

FX8320 + Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 (Rev4)

FX6350 + Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 (Rev4)

Xeon E3 1230V3 + H87 board with Xfire

i would go xeon. but it could be that the 8320 performs better in streaming. 6350 - no.
