Tech noob here, I would like to know what kind of GPUs is my motherboard compatible with.

Kjhendir

Title, i have the A520M H motherboard from Gigabyte, and I likned the spec sheet but this part I don't understand:

CPU:

  1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, supporting PCIe 3.0 and running at x16

Chipset:

  1. 2 x PCI Express x1 slots, supporting PCIe 3.0

Does that mean that I can have basically any GPU running at x16 or will it be locked down to x1?

My CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / 6 Core / 12 Thread / 3.7GHz / 4.6GHz Boost / TDP 65W / Wraith Stealth / 100-100000065BOX, I have a Nvidia 720 GPU just to make the PC actually have graphics but I'd love to also be able to play Monster Hunter World and some other GPU intensive games, my max budget is $500 USD what card would you reccomend? also what other info would let me make a better desition of which GPU to get?

Thanks ❤️

Edit: This is my case, the site is in spanish but the important part is that it has a 500W power source, the measures are 180x360x410mm.

It'll run at x16 speed. Any GPU really. If there's nothing wrong with the slot. Also, the card market is really marked up. I'd say if you're not afraid of looking on eBay then go that route. Obviously, make sure the seller is reputable and all that good stuff. Or even try getting into Newegg Shuffle to get notified if they pick you to buy a GPU.

Okay, so PCI-E Cards are mostly interchangable as mentioned by Bondi.

Your limitation will be the PSU.

A 500W PSU may not actually deliver 500 usable watts, so you'd be restricted to moderate power cards.  You'd need to look at the specs, or ask in the PSU section about it.

On 500$, you'd want to look for a deal on an RTX 3060 series, or maybe an AMD RX 6700 series.
