I have in BIOS 2 different references to the same disk/SSD boot options, but  one works other does not. Maybe heck out if there are multiple boot options?

I mean there are actually 3 boot options, but one is MBR boot I think, 2 are UEFI boots.

And if you have the boot partition still present then this might help in case of W10 - https://support.novabackup.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011403653-How-to-repair-the-EFI-bootloader-on-a-GPT-HDD-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-and-10#h_560026881391540598122418

But to be honest I still don't understand why make the repairing of boot process so damn difficult. Microsoft?

Edited: this was a response to another, now missing post.

Thanks but this was also something I already tried.
When I execute

bootrec /FixBoot

It says I dont have permission to do this.

I've got good news though.
Wenn looking further into the missing permission error I found this (german) page:
https://de.minitool.com/datentraegerverwaltung/bootrec-fixboot-zugriff-verweigert.html

They suggested to format the ~500 MB system partition and the to run the automatic repair again.
I did that, the automatic repair said that it was not able to repair anything but after that the Windows booted normally again.

Still got no idea how and why this happened and why just exactly this fixed it now.

Hi all, I'm stuck on a problem and do not know what to do.

From yesterday to today my PC (Windows 10) does not start anymore. Yesterday evening it shut down normally and today it starts directly in trouble shooting mode.

The SSD itself is ok and runs on a USB adapter without problems. When put in another PC as boot medium it also directly shows the troubleshooting page.

The SSD is also displayed in the bios and listed as a boot option.

SFC /Scannow only throws back "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation."

The same after CHKDSK /f c: is executed.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth returns only.

"Error: 87

The option "cleanup-image" is unknown".

BOOTREC /scanos shows me that it finds a Windows installation, when I try to put it in the startup list via /rebuildbcd, it just gives me a "The system cannot find the specified path."

And yes, I have backups of the files and can still get to them, but I want to avoid a complete reinstallation and the associated installations especially configurations of my programs and tools.

If the Windows still starts, it seems that you can install a new Windows, which then replaces all system files from the old one, but keeps programs and files, but I don't see such an option when I use an installation drive.

Do you have any ideas that can help here?
