Yup... don't touch it if its not broken.

---

If you rebuilt it wrong or it does not go to plan you will end up with a non-bootable OS

I ask because a friends computer gets frequent restart crashes and bsods. She has anti virus software on there but never does a scan. I am currently doing a scan for here and so far found 2 rootkits and a forged physical sector. My friend tells me that the bsods and crashes could be from a corrupted mbr. What do you think? mbr corruption? viruses? or something else?

Run a malwarebytes full scan. delete all that appears. You can use the inbuilt partition tool to remove any unwanted partitions or use another third party tool. see how that goes.

So, if I use aomei PA Standard to rebuild the mbr and it turns out the mbr s fine. Will it ruin the system? Or not?

No but its best not to mess around with it unless something happens. If its not needed and the PC is working fine leave it alone :)

I would likely just do a clean re-install in this case.

She does not have the win7 install disc and she doesnt want to lose everythig. Thats is why I am trying to find a fix for the random restart crashes and bsods. If you guys have any useful info, then PLEASE tell me. I am already doing a full scan and have found 2 rootkits and a forged physical sector atm. Like I said, if you know anything useful that has nothing to do with reinstalling. PLEASE do let me know. Thanks

If you really want to do a clean install then backup her stuff.

Carry on with what you are doing. scan it then rescan with Malwarebytes anti-malware. and go from there.

If that doesn't fix it then the only option you have is to do a clean install.

If the MBR was corrupt then you would not be able to boot right now :)

Ok.... I see...... But one last problem if it does come down to clean installing.... She can't find her win7 install disc. Is there anyway to find out what the product key is on the computer at all????
