Hi everyone. Just a quick question. I have a Monitor and my TV connected to my PC. Is there a way I can set it that when I turn off my Monitor, my TV becomes the main display and vice versa. Want it so that when I game in the lounge I can simply turn on TV and turn off monitor then the TV will be my main display. Then if I want to game on the monitor I just turn off Tv and turn on monitor.

Well you could just mirror your screen instead of extending your main display, that should work (I think)

Won't work for gaming.

I would imagine something like that exists, but I can only think something like a聽KVM switch would be an easy cheap way to go.

KVM won't work as is designed to share 1 monitor with multiple devices not one device multiple monitors. Same with an HDMI Switcher.聽 There might be a device that can do the reverse but I don't know what that would be called.聽

You could use an HDMI splitter to basically duplicate the HDMI signal to two screens. Unfortunately that will only work if the TV and monitor are somewhat same resolutions. My guess is they are not. TV is probably 4K and Monitor is 1080p etc.. It probably would still work but the TV would look crappy.

Personalty what I would do is use software something like display fusion (the free version might be able to do this) and setup Display profiles, have one profile disable your TV and enable your monitor and the other profile will do the reverse. And tie that profile to a keyboard shortcut. For example I do this for my VR setup. I have 4 monitors and that is my GPU limit so I need to disable at least 1 of the monitor before my VR headset will work. So I have a profile setup on a keyboard shortcut to disable 3 monitors and turn down the resolution on my last monitor to 1080p to reduce the load on my video card.聽 Then when I am done with VR I have another keyboard shortcut to enable the three monitors and restore the last monitor back to 1440p.

My keyboard shortcuts are Crtl+Shift + function key. (F1 F2 etc..)
