Windows 11 falsely reporting Core clock

jtraccsy

I installed Win 11 on my pc, everything runs great, games run great all around pleased, however, what is up with the reported core clock? Check out the pic attached. I do have my i9 10850 OC'd to 5ghz all core. Task manager reports a base of 5ghz and speeds jump as high as 6.89GHZ, now that would be great, but obviously the processor is not running that fast literally.

Anyone else experience this false reporting?

Task manager should never be used for an accurate reading for any hardware. It is almost always wrong.

Well ya i get that, I don't generally use it as gospel but was just a odd thing i noticed. Other than that win 11 performs well for me, well, so far anyway. Time will tell.

This is what HWMonitor reported for my 10900KF which I thought was ridiculous, I'm using Windows 11 also but I don't think a lot of these monitoring tools have been updated for use in Win11... I just take it with a pinch of salt at the moment whilst I wait for the update to come out.

One other thing is HWInfo64 won't report the CPU clocking anything past 950MHz.

open hardware monitor reports the speeds correctly, just task manager does not for me

For me (R5 5600X) task manager also doesn't seem to get the right clock speeds, ever. No matter if stock or OC, W10 or W11, the clock speed is always wrong.

For example running cinebench shows 4.65GHz sustained on all cores (PBO is enabled) in HWinfo64, task manager says something like 4.1GHz or so.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

My 5600x is at 4.75ghz PBO yet Windows likes to report it hitting 5.8ghz when CPU usage spikes.
