Ransomware

Xecu7oR

Hi

So I have been one of the many unfortunate victims to come across ronsomware... I know, not rolling with an anti-virus nowadays is a big no no.

I have a load of important documents and loads of sentimental photo's etc that i would like to recover if possible.

All my documents have been encrypted with military grade encryption and have to pay a certain fee in order to get a decrypting tool (Which is total BS)

I need to find out if there is a way to decrypt and/or recover at least some of my files etc?

Thanks so much for all the tech tip videos you guys do. It helps a great load.

Keep up the good work

Pay, and then pray because it's a coin flip if they release you from it or not.

Can we see a screenshot of the message?

There are 3 ways to be able to recover from this.

1.) Have a backup somewhere else that you can restore from

2.) Use a filesystem with snapshot capability like ZFS or BTRFS (unlikely)

3.) Pay the ransom

There's not much else you can do. Sorry, but it sounds like you might be SOL

Welcome to the forums! Very sorry to hear your situation.

Any file backups at all? If not, I'd back up the encrypted files (even if they are encrypted, you never know) to an external HDD or cloud service, then pay and just hope they give you your stuff back.
