Compatible RAM?

Go to solution Solved by MR H.,

The oloy works at 1.35V and the HP one at 1.2V

Manufacturer OLOy
ASIN B08KPYXR4M
Country of Origin Taiwan
Brand OLOy
Form Factor 288-Pin
RAM Memory Technology SDRAM DDR4
Computer Memory Size 8 GB
Memory Speed

3200 MHz

  • DDR4 1x8GB UDIMM, total 8 GB
  • Frequency : 3200 MHz CL16
  • 1.35V UDIMM (XMP 2.0 Automated Overclocking Technology)
  • Compatible with Intel and AMD

The HP One:

RAM - Tipo de DIMM UnBuffered RAM -  PC4-25600 / DDR4-3200 RAM - ECC NON-ECC RAM - Perfil Standard RAM - Voltagem 1.2V RAM - CAS LATENCY CAS-22-22-22 RAM - Pins DDR4 UDIMM 288pin

One is CL22 the other one CL16...

They will work but it's not the best combo...

All depends on the use and the price

So, my friend is offering to sell his old ram sticks to me and I'm not sure if my current RAM sticks are compatible with the ones he is giving me. My current RAM sticks are Balistix DDR4 2x 8 GB 3200 MHz. Both of the stick he is giving me are two different brands, but they're both the same specs. (one 8GB with 3200 MHz, and the other is the same.) So, wouldn't this mean they're compatible? I wouldn't have to do any speed adjusting, right?

If they are same spec ram they should work without any issues, doesn’t matter that they are different brand.

Probably.

Your motherboard has an official supported RAM listing on the website for it.

If your friend is cool, he'll let you try the sticks out and make sure they work.

What motherboard and CPU?

Make and model of your friends RAM?

ddr4 3200 doesnt mean that they have anything in common.

Could be different timings, voltages, IMCs...

So no just because both are 3200 2x8GB kits says nothing.

My motherboard is the MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 and my CPU is the Ryzen 5600x. I'm not sure of the model, but I have a picture of them. Let me get it..

So... does that mean they can work together? If not, what can I adjust to make them work?

Sorry for so many questions, but why wouldn't they be the best combo? What are the dangers of mixing these RAM types?

There is a video for this jajajja

The ram sticks will run at the compatible speed/CL timing between all the ram modules

Mixing RAM with Ryzen is not done. I've seen a lot of issues with 2 kits of 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200C16 and different version numbers and you want to mix 3 brands with 2 totally different ICs and timings. Probably it works at 2133 MT/s if you're lucky.
