So ive been trying to find a better GPU for a while now, but yall know how the GPU market is at the time. Instead of spending +$300 for just a GPU thats 5% faster than my current one, im thinking about just getting a whole new system that both got a better GPU but also better CPU.

Ive looked around the used market and ive found numerous PCs that got pretty good GPU and CPU combos for a great price.

But i dont have that kind of money, and since im getting a whole new PC i might as well sell my current one. But im not entirely sure if its even worth over $500.

Current PC Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 AF

Cooler: Freezer 34 esport

Mobo: MSI B450M-A PRO MAX

GPU: XFX RS RX 480 4GB

Ram: 2x8 3200MHz

Storage: 2x 500GB HDD in raid

Storage: 1x 1TB Kingston A400

PSU: Corsair CX500M

Case: Corsair graphite 760T

Fans:

2x 120mm on GPU instead of OG fans - (NZXT AER P120)

2x 140mm in front - (Red LED)

1x 120mm bottom - (No Name)

1x 140mm back - (NZXT AER P140)

3x 140mm top (NZXT AER P140)

Extras:

1x Phanteks fan hub

Possibly Available:

I could also get a NZXT rgb hub for $30, and with that add 4x of those NZXT Hue+ RGB strips. How much more could i add to the price?

This is going up on the Swedish used market, and that is quite small based on the one in the US, so prices is a bit higher over here. Based on the components and all the random accessories, i personally think it would go for at least 850-900 USD (or 8000 SEK).

Here are some examples of available PCs.

Option Nr 1:

Note: Its a HP prebuilt but the specs of it are pretty OK, and i will eventually upgrade it to get maximun performance.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3500

Mobo: Stock HP

Ram: 8gb (dont know if its single or dual channel, but i will upgrade it)

GPU: GTX 1660 TI

SSD: 512 GB m.2 NVMe

PSU: stock HP (this is till an ok PSU with the stock internals. Will change it if i ever upgrade and need more power)

Wifi: Both ethernet and wireless

Extras: it got 6-12 months of warranty.

Price: $865 (7500 SEK)

That seems like a pretty good deal for me! Pretty basic but functional PC except that it might need some upgrades to get its full power, but ill fix that overtime. Sold by a company that refurbishes PCs.

But for $150 more i can get this:

Option Nr 2:

Note: Its almost the same HP prebuilt but Intel.

CPU: Intel i5 10400F

MoboStock HP

Ram: 2x8GB

GPU: RTX 2060

SSD: 512 GB m.2 NVMe

PSU: Stock HP

Wifi: both ethernet and wireless

Extras: it got 6-12 months of warranty.

Price: $1000 (9000 SEK)

Well your card goes anywhere between 250-600right now so well lets just assume 250 for that part on it's own.

The case is pretty nice looking. Hardware is pretty decent and overall pretty nice.

What I recommend you do is clean it up really nicely. Like make it SHINE really nicely. Make sure your cable management is top notch and take some real good beauty shots. That easily nets you 100$ extra for this system.

If you do all that I'd say this system can go for 800$ minimum. But look at local market to see how much comparable systems go for.

What I do recommend is you REMOVE the hard drives as 500gb looks bad in spec lists (I know weird but it's something I've noticed from personal experience) and lower the fan amount. Too many fans that are NOT rgb give people a wrong vibe and make em think something is wrong. So stick with 2 front, 1 back 1 top.

Also please put the og heatsink back on the gpu people will think it's broken if you sell it like that.

I feel closer to around $700-800 if this were the US market, but if the market is smaller in Sweden and has a better turnover of selling PCs, then $800 could be achievable.

Thats pretty much what i had in mind too. The cable managment is as good as it gets, as the case is pretty open and big.

Harddrives can be removed with ease, and i could then possibly use it in the new PC.

I can put back the OG fan shroud, but its not the greatest rx480 model and its REALLY noisy (that could possibly lower the interest too).

The fans is getting removed too, as they add noise, and i didnt really see a difference in airflow or temps, ive just been too lazy to remove them. I could also change the red-LED fans in the front to the ones without LED to give it more of a "sleek" look instead of the "i put whatever i had on hand in it cause why not).

Im also leaning towards buying the NZXT RGB hub to add my 4x NZXT RGB strips that just lays around. I feeling like i could easily add another $100-150, since the HUB is $30, 4x NZXT Hue+ strips is around $65-70, and then the extension accessories for like another $10. I even got the NZXT hue+ strips for free, so i make even more of a profit.

People really do buy on looks. I still have a r9 290x toxic here with the fan mod and even for 100$ it just does not get sold. Trust me here put that og fan thing back on no matter how noisy it gets.

NEVER remove lights in a computer. Shiny stuff sells :p.

Then the Red-LED fans stay! and im definetly getting that NZXT Hue+ hub. Adds even more RGB to it for just $30.

Oh I'd say if you do that skip the nzxt and get a 5 pack of rgb fans from amazon. Same ish price but LOTS more shinies. Do get the ones with fan control as otherwise it's quite loud. Is basically the same price just a little more searching. Otherwise you end up with stuck red led fans and a rgb strip.

What model HP is it exactly? If it's a Pavillion or Envy, forget about the upgrades. Motherboard, PSU and case are proprietary and not replaceble by 'normal' ATX parts. Upgrading one of the three means you have to replace all three parts.

Yep already know that. If i upgrade the motherboard ill most likely switch over to one of my old cases i still have. Same with the PSU. As i said, they all will work without problem stock, but when the time comes, it will probably be a year or two from now, and ive most likely save up some money to get it all replaced at the same time.

EDIT: here some pictures from the ad itself. Im not familiar with HP models, so i dont know which exact model it could be:

Option nr1 is crap. The 3500 is a pure 6thread cpu and those struggle already for games.

Option nr 2 is better but I know the cooler suck on it from experience. Does have the better specs overall.

However are these used or new? Because you can get a NEW hp pavilion gaming DESKTOP with a 4600g + 16gb ram + 1660 super for about 800€.

These are refurbished "new" PCs. Those HP pavilions are only available in the U.S and not sweden. I cant get anything like that near the price of 800€.

Yeah well they did find some of them, bu they are a bit weaker and a bit more expensive than in any other country. What i did find was these:

HP pavilion TG01-2853no

i5 11400

8gb ram

GTX 1650S

512gb SSD

Price: $980

Lenovo ideacenter gaming 5

Exact same specs as the pavilion.

Price: $780 (sale)

HP will still have the dinky little cooler so not great but spec wise good system. The lenovo is basically identical but good for the price. Either way keep in mind these systems will basically be forever like you bought them since they do NOT have a standard psu and it's NOT upgradeable.

Honestly just buy a gpu here. These systems have only a bit better cards in em (1650s is like a 10% difference, 1660ti is about 40 and 2060 is about 45%)
