Budget (including currency): Probably around 1800-2100 EUR

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Will be used for casual games like Genshin, Roblox, Minecraft but also for my college work as I'm going into computer science

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I use a 1080p 144hz monitor

I already created a pcpartpicker link but I'm looking to see if I can make any improvements to it:

Shaved ~200$ by

Ditching inferior overpriced corsair ram (ballistix 3600mhz cl16 is the same price)

Ditching the corsair psu (good psu but abit overpriced)

Ditching the 980 pro (gen4 is completely useless if you dont run server like workloads that require regular transfers of massive files)

Ditching the meshify c (great case but its abit pricey)

Ditching the board (uneccesary and i bet you arent overclocking anyways)

And

Upgraded the cpu to a 5800x (you can go for a 5900x but thats quite uneccesary)

Added a cheap dual tower cooler

Swapped board for a b550a pro (good enough board)

Swapped ram for much cheaper 32gb 3200mhz cl16 rgb rams

Swapped ssd for an a2000 (still has dram cache)

Swapped case for a focus g (decent quality and somewhat cheap

Swapped psu for an msi mpg

Overall, I think you've put together a great PC build. I really like that you've got a 2TB HD + 1TB SSD.

I think your motherboard may be a bit lacking for the overall build, with only 1 USB 3 port, and overall limited overclocking ability. Check out this article for more motherboards compatible with the Ryzen 7 3700X.

No offence but that article is nonsense.

I have updated the build, let me know what you think https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/V4twxc

Looks great! Just personally I wouldn't get a Seagate as they used to have a rep of breaking down. I did have one break but maybe they fixed that. HGST drives are said to be superior, even WD or Toshiba. SSD looks good. I got the SN750 (WD Black) they're very affordable though I think Samsung is considered a bit higher end so you can't go wrong with them.

I would ignore that article as it is not good advice. You don't need an X570-E to run an 8 core cpu. You are probably better off going with a 5600X over a 3700X anyway unless your College work requires 8 cores.
