What's old is new again. I've posted here twice in the last two months and as of yet have not been able to find an answer.

I built most of this PC, minus the CPU, in 2020 and used and AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen processor so I could update the BIOS to work with the 5000 series (whichever I got, I was agnostic to the 5600-5950x).

Because I was waiting on a CPU, I unplugged it and left it covered in a plastic sheet since February. I managed to get the 5950x and installed it, but it wouldn't boot. At all.

  1. I checked that my power cable is firmly plugged in on both ends

  2. I checked the power supply switch was in the position denoted with ON or I

  3. I checked every power cable to confirm it was plugged in securely, and reseated them several times.

  4. I checked the power button was installed correctly (although I'm not even getting indicator LEDs on the motherboard).

  5. I plugged it into an outlet I know works (same one I'm using this PC on).

I replaced the old CPU that I had been using before and experienced the same issue. I suspected both the motherboard and the power supply and have gone through the RMA process on both.

I should also note that during this process I essentially took the machine apart and put it back together again a couple of times and I can see no faulty connections or anything of the sort.

I'm still having the same problem: No indicator lights on the motherboard, no response to the power button, and no fan on the power supply. I do not know where to go from here. Any input would be appreciated. I would seriously considering this to Linus's build team at this point.

For reference, this is my current build.

Will it post?  Post is when you see the screen show things.  Boot is windows (or whatever else)

it’s sounds like it’s not posting.  Have you plugged the PSU into the appropriate outlet and turned on the power switch? If there’s power coming out of the wall outlet the PSU fan should at least jerk once.  If there’s no movement at all as you say I would suspect wall power or some other basic PSU oriented power problem

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It won't POST or anything. There's no response, as if it's not plugged in at all. I know the outlet is good because I plugged it into an outlet I know works (same one I'm using this PC on). I already replaced both the motherboard and the PSU.

So not outlet and PSU and motherboard are known good. Implies the old ones may have been good too.  There’s a thing where things blink for a second then shut down, which is often a system going into protect mode because of a severe problem.  This isn’t happening either?

That's a negative, Ghost Rider, I'm getting no hint that there's any power flowing to the motherboard at all. My next best step is to take things apart and put them back together again. I heard on another forum that the order in which components are installed can sometimes be an issue, so the replacement of the CPU may have been the culprit.
