Mixing ram sizes....

My laptop have 4gb on board ram 

And i have an extra slot for upgrading ram

Should i add same size ram 4gb

4gb (on board) + 4gb 

Or should i go for 8gb 

4gb (on board) + 8gb 

???

i5 826U i guess 

Mostly programing and solidworks

Gaming (not regular)

But when i play recent games (low size like 10gb)

At certain point in the game it starts to get so much lagging

ok i would get 8gb since you need more ram then it being in dual chanell.
