Dlan slower than expected

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

Looks like it's one of the Powerline adapters that is what I'd consider a scam.

They say 1000Mbps everywhere, but the actual ethernet ports it uses are only 10/100, so max out at 100Mbps regardless of how much data they can move over powerline.

Provided it's this one, they use 10/100 Ethernet ports https://www.devolo.co.uk/fileadmin/Web-Content/DE/products/hnw/dlan-1000-duo-powerline/documents/en/Datasheet_dLAN_1000_duo__en_UK.pdf

Hello :D,
I have a contract for 1000mbit.
900mbit reach my fritzbox. so far so good. I dont like wlan because my room is far away.

So i used DLAN. in particular the Develo Dlan 1000. I get 90mbit Internet while 900mbit comes into my fritzbox. any ideas or tricks how i can push those numbers.
i have also installed develo cockpit. (it says something with 270mbit but i only get 90)
Thank you very much :)

Powerline is a crapshoot and its performance will heavily depend on the electrical installation in your home. Sometimes you might get different results by using different wall sockets.

900Mbps on a powerline ethernet adaper would be under ideal conditions.
Likely hooked up to the same power bar they'd acheive those numbers, but the further the 2 points are away the more the signal degrades and the more speed loss is incurred.

In this case, it's questionable marketing, using 10/100 ports on a device that claims 1000Mbps.

"Nice", didn't look at the specs. So yeah it's basically already working as good as it ever will, and it's definitely deceptive marketing.

It's disturbingly common. I had to look through 4 different documents on it before actually finding the ethernet port bandwidth. All other documents just say RJ45 and it doesn't say 1Gbps ethernet anywhere.

Thank you very much. Good that i read that before i start trying every power socket.....Do you have any recommendation for a Dlan device ?

Deceptive marketing aside, I see it has 2x WAN ports, can OP provide dual uplink from a nearby router/modem and get 200Mbps out of it??? If he's got 1 ethernet ran to it already, might as well run a 2nd.

Worth a shot lol

Edit: I'm stupid, the receiving end will only spit out 100Mbps  , return the dumb thing lol

It has no WAN ports, only LAN ports.

I seriously doubt it, I imagine it just has a switch, or it physically only uses 4 of the pairs on each port to allow for 100Mbps on both ports simultaneously. Even if you could aggregate them together, it doesn't work out to 200Mbps like you're probably thinking. It would allow for 200Mbps bandwidth, but a single session/transfer would still be capped at 100Mbps, but you could have two going at 100Mbps at the same time.

Do You Mean i should plug the other develo adapter into a power socket near the first one and then connect that to a laptop or something with lan cable and check the speed? I can certainly try that if u want

It won't make a difference, you'll be capped at 100Mbps per port regardless of what you do.

I was assuming the other end also had two ports connected together. Still, same as the answer I gave, it would theoretically allow for 2x 100Mbps (not that the adapter would support LACP) rather than combining to 200Mbps for a single transfer. Often not much use for a end device, it's more useful for switches and servers that will be receiving multiple full speed connections from different devices.
