I changed out my motherboard with a asus sabertooth 990fx and so I had to reapply thermal paste for the first time to my cooler which is stock AMD cooler. I am planning on buying a better cooler next month.

Right now the asus software I have installed shows my motherboard at 38C. Right now I am just on here and downloading planetside 2. I played just cause 2 for a bit earlier and my temp was 44C when I exited the game.

Are these temps normal? How hot can my cpu safely get?

google the many reviews of your CPU, they would have temp results for stock clockspeeds @ high CPU load

"fx 4130 review"

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I think the MB shouldn't go past 50c and the cpu shouldn't be above 80-90 depending on the person. Like the person said above, monitor it while playing. After you close the game the heat should go down pretty fast.

Don't AMD CPU's have a lower maxtemp than Intel CPU's.?

Like.. closer to 65*c MAX, not 85*c

Oh my bad, for AMD I think its around 60 as max, but you shouldn't go above 55 I think.

Asus AI suite begins to give me warnings if I get above 65 degrees.
