BF4 "custom" resolution

Hello, 
Lately I've been wondering if it's possible to set the resolution of Battlefield 4 to 1280x960 if I have a 1600x900 monitor. I tried to make a custom resolution in nVidia Control Panel, it shows ingame but when I try to use it, the game kinda freezes and I have to press ESC to undo the changes. Same happens when I try to change the ingame res via config file.
Any help or advice would be great and tell me if it's actually possible, thanks <3

Well, I'd imagine the 960 part is impossible if the maximum is 900 on your monitor. 

 

The 1280 part should be feasible if you have 1600.

 

I'm assuming this is how it works.

 

Out of interest, what does this work out to?

 

Is it like 560p or something?

Maybe, when I try to apply the 1280x960 res via Nvidia control panel it still goes back to the native resolution and the custom res deletes from the list of resolutions

Why are you trying to do the res this way? It has to look horrible

I'd like to set the ingame res to 1280x960 and try it out

How are you gonna set it to 960 when the monitor is 900?
