SSD Question

Go to solution Solved by TheNinjaNextDor,

So it's fine to stay up running up to 72hrs as long as i direct my download folder to a HDD?

If you are downloading to a HDD it won't effect them at all.

I usually leave my computer open for up to 72hrs at most. This is due to slow internet speeds here in our country. Will it lessen the lifespan of an SSD?

Nope. The only way to do that is to write to it since writes are limited.

SSD's don't degrade unless your writing to them so there should be no shorter life expectancy.

Downloading from torrent is a form of WRITE? Am i right?

Yep, but just running them doesn't matter.

If you downloaded 1GB and it took you 1 day it would degrade as much as 1GB in 1 second.

It's best just not to worry about it, it takes an enormous amount of data to wear out an SSD.  It's not something you need to keep count of every megabyte for.

You'll  throw away your ssd long before you wear it out. It takes hungreds of TERABYTES writes to wear out ssd. Nothing to worry about.
