Does clearing CMOS clear fTPM?

WiiMAN
Go to solution Solved by freeagent,

You can clear the cmos too and it will be fine.

That’s basically my question. If I clear CMOS, does the fTPM get cleared as well?

What about a BIOS update? Would that also affect the fTPM

And would disabling the fTPM clear keys or is that only doable manually?

You can update the bios just fine. You can turn ftpm off and be ok too. It will give you a choice of writing new keys or keeping old keys when change cpus, if you keep the old ftpm gets disabled iirc.

So as long as I don’t intentionally clear the fTPM it’ll stay?

Awesome! Thanks for the info. That’s the only thing that had me worried about setting up my PC for Windows 11 since I already lost access to 1 OS after playing with the settings and clearing them once…
