Or maybe two motherboards, in order to get both to function.  I think I saw a simple enough exploit (to get a PSU to work as if it were connected to a mobo) on YouTube, but I don't think it applies to all PSUs.  I think I could also use a PSU tester, but I'm not sure that's a good solution for months at a time.

I have a 255W PSU, and I have access to similar low-wattage PSUs.  If they're decent quality, can I plug one into a GTX 1080 and one into everything else?  Everything else being something like an X570 Aorus Elite WiFi, a Ryzen 5 2400G (yeah, not an ideal match for a 1080 in most use cases), CPU cooler, case fans, etc.  I think the main (potential) issue is that the GPU would be drawing power from both PSUs (one indirectly).  Is that a problem?  Each PSU would be sending power to the GPU without "knowing" what's going into the GPU at the other "end."

That's just not a very good idea. Save yourself the hassle and get a proper power supply.

It involves the use of a paperclip, and it works on all standard power supplies. Still, don't do that here.
