Utilizing full GPU Memory

Hi there!

I run windows 10 with 2 displays (1x1080p, 1x4K) on a 2060 SUPER with 8gb of vram. As we all know the more displays you have connected to the same gpu the more memory it sucks.

My goal is to somehow utilize all the 8gb available for deepfake training (right now i can use about 6.5gb). My cpu is a ryzen 2600 so no integrated gpu.

So let me ask this stupid question: is there any way that i can disconnect my 2 monitors from the gpu and launch the program that i want, say from another computer withough a gui (so no memory consumption)?

Getting a second gpu would let you do this.

 

But windows and other apps use a good amount, so this is pretty normal. If you need much more vram, get a card with more vram.

Yeah i was considering one.

Do you think there is enough room for a single slot gpu?

Well I count three slots below the empty lower pcie, so you could stick a 4 slot card.

Are you sure? 3 slots free?

Right below the gpu there is a 1x slot and under it is a 16x slot and that's it.

Maybe i'm wrong

Each one of these is an empty slot that can be used for the bottom slot of the motherboard. You can have up to a 4 slot card.

I would have to disconnect this rgb cable since it's blocking all of the space right?

That will depend on the GPU, many have the fan shroud high enough to not interfere with stuff like that, but it's not a sure thing.

I was thinking about a 1030 with 2gb of vram. Is it enough to hold 1x1080p and 1x4KHDR display?

Should i go 4gb?

That is the vram available to tensorflow. 1.42gb is used by os and disays

I know.  that's my point.  at the minute your displays are only sucking 1.42GB.  Wouldn't be any different on a smaller card so 2GB would be enough
