What storage is needed?

Go to solution Solved by Dan Pablo-Techy,

Thanks everyone! Very helpful, I’m going to go with two ssds.

Personally, id suggest going full SSD, unless u really need hundreds of Terabytes of storage in which case HDDs is the most sensible option.

Fill u M.2 Slots 1st, then add Sata SSDs as needed.

It cost about $1200 usd. I just wanted to know if I should get 2 m.2 ssd’s, 1 m.2 and a sata ssd, or 1 m.2 and a hdd? Any suggestions

Heavily depends on your upgrade plan, your use case, and how are you going to use the storage combination. Personally im still an advocate for an SSD+HDD setup, with the sweet spot for now being 1TB SSD, and 4TB HDD.

This is more of a question of budget which we can't answer.

That being said, if you have the budget for the size M.2 NVMe SSD's you want, absolutely do that. No wires is quite nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

What is your motherboard? If you can put 2 m.2 without lose one pci-e slot, it would be my choice. It is what i was using, but i had to take out the second one because of the MB limitation (chipset x470). Ive had to use the pci-e 4x for a 10gbe card. It was a 970 evo plus 1TB (Main) and the other was a XPG Gammix S11 PRO 2TB (Second).
