Sumond cooler lga1151 Spring loaded screws problem

Im almoat ready to use my second build but this cooler i spent hours trying to attach. It has movable springloaded screws... which do not go in no matter what i do. Msi h360 board. How do i get this thing in? This mounting system is vary confusing.

Are you sure you're not missing the backplate that this cooler screws into?

There was a backplate? It didnt come with ine and i baught it new... whats a backplate?

What's the make and model of your cooler? If its mounting system involves screws, it should have a backplate that mounts onto the back of the board like this:

 

What the backplate does is provide threads for the cooler to screw into as LGA boards typically ship with nothing in the mounting holes as the stock Intel cooler uses plastic push pins, not screws. So without the backplate, there's nothing for your spring loaded screws to screw into.

I just looked it was a generic one on ebay that said lga 2011. I then got an antek one that listed a bunch of stuff it fit, my cpu being one of em, but the mounting system makes even less sense. 2 latches on the side. Which isnt even close to the 4 holes on the board.

2 latches on the side. That sounds like an AMD mounting system. Can you post a picture of it?

This was supposedly for intel and amd. Antec cooler

Yes, a backplate should be enough for it to be mounted.

Yea that's AMD. The spring loaded screws you showed earlier would be for Intel. But you're just missing the backplate that goes with it.

LGA 2011 and 115x are different mounting holes. 

Did the Antec cooler come with any other mounting hardware?

It's Intel also. But it should have a black ring with it that installs first.
