It should be fairly easy to do. I believe you just have to remove the screws holding in the fortifier (backplate), and the armor will come off.

hi guys i need help on how to remove the thermal armor on the z87 sabertooth mobo i want to paint it white when i get it and was wondering if anyone has a tutorial on how to remove it or could give me some info on how to remove it thanks.

There should be screws around the board that keeps the armor in place.

Remove the small screw on the back of the motherboard, you could have answered this question easily by looking through your manual instead of making a thread about it.

also i don't know yet i was thinking along the lines of using maybe some plastic model spray paint or plasty dipping it in white then outlining the words in black model paint i'm certainly open to suggestions on what will work best.
