This will be a m-itx build i have all the components minus the GPU.

I want my rig to be able to play games at 4k you could call it future proofing if you will. but i cant decide between a GTX titan or 780 ti? or if there are any amd GPU's i should be considering.

would it be worth waiting for a new series of GPU if there are any releases anytime soon eg, GTX 790?

For 4K gaming you are going to require 2-3 6GB cards for this generation. I would recommend the Titan Blacks, or even wait till the GTX 880/TI get's released this year which would be a better decision as you probably won't have 4K for quite some time. .

Samsung Evo 120Gb

Thermaltake Toughpower 850w gold

Your PC is pretty solid and when you pair it with a nice graphics card it should be great for 4K gaming. But for the graphics card I would personally wait and see what AMD and Nvidia have coming out. I heard a rumour (may be true) that AMD are releasing a R9 295X2 soon. Also Nvidia should be releasing their 800 series cards. If you really need a card now you could always go with one of the Titans (Black, Z).

This is pretty much the one golden situation where the original Titan actually made sense (and the Titan Z now of course).  Most powerful single GPU card with plenty of memory that can fit into a mini-ITX case.  There's really not any other card for this situation IMO (not sure if the the dual Hawaii card will fit given its size and radiator etc)...

I didn't mean that it will be able to actually push this resolution at max settings or anything but you are really limited given your case constraints.  Its the best of whats available for now and for any time soon...

Titan Z or 295x2 :D or better off just waiting a couple generations because 30fps or less at 4k = f-dat

I would just wait till 800 series, now that 4k is slowly becoming a thing and prices are dropping both Nvidia and AMD are going to start making high end cards that will push games at that resolution, kepler just can't push that high of a resolution without multiple high end cards because it wasn't designed to run those resolutions

GTX titan black. A GTX 790 won't be released, the 790 is pretty much the titan-z

Chances are, they will release it at PAX, I can't see why they couldn't, if they followed your mentality there would never be cards like the 780 or Titan Black.

Honestly the 790 would be the EXACT same with but probably with 4gb of VRam, IMO a pointless GPU unless it cost's $1200

Didn't digital storm release a video, which showed that not even 4x (or two) titans could drive 4k properly, in games like BF4 and Crysis 3.

Do you have any benchmarks to back that statement?

My thinking is this, that at such high res, AA isn't necessary.....so, with low AA or no AA, less VRAM is used and thus no need for 6GB. AMD R9 290 series with 4GB is sufficient, more than able to cope with 4K gaming than, say, GTX780's with 3GB VRAM. I will say that for a better 4K gaming experience, you'd need a dual high end nVidia/AMD GPU's at least.....to run AAA games at best ingame setting but with no or low AA. Here's a guru3d review of 4K gaming and the VRAM used for two games to show the kind of framerate hit maxing out AA would take....

You don't need 2 6GB cards for 4K gaming, a 290/X will suite fine. I don't know what your going on about.

Anyways, you'll probably be better off either getting a 290X or two or wait till the 295 comes out and get that.

It's true that the sweet spot for 4K gaming is 4gb. But if you read what the OP said "I can't decide between the 780TI and the Titan". Nvidia cards don't come in a 4GB variant for any of these cards.

He also wanted to "future proof" which obviously one day games will take advantage of the 6GB.

Most benchmarks I've seen around on the Internet have shown a 780 Ti or a Titan Black only reaching between 20-30 (and very occasionally 40) fps at 4K. Is this because the ones I've seen have all insisted on an unnecessary amount of Antialiasing for the resolution, or are we really going to need to spend upwards for £1500 on multiple high end current gen gpus to maintain 60fps?

That's why I suggested the 295X2 because it's got 8GB of VRAM, so yeh.

please wait since 4k isn't even mainstream enough yet...laptops are still on 1376x754 or something stupid like that

*facpalm* There are plenty of 1440p laptops, there are a number of laptops that (or will) feature a 4K display and other laptops go up to 1800p.
