i5 3570k vs fx 6300 on youtube

I3 = very fast in older games and some new ones that aren't optimized for multicore (indie games are usually like this). Seems to be pretty darn good under Mantle and should be pretty good under DX 12, low level OpenGL. NOT great in some of the newer multicore titles without optimization.

fx 6300 = slow in non optimized games, pretty good on "next gen". Good choice if you just want a "next gen console" that can do some other stuff. Don't buy this chip and go big on GPU. This is more of a R9 270 would be most I would go on the thing. You save money now, but if you want to go bigger on GPU in the future? You might end up needing a new board (if you went cheap on the board), new CPU etc later.

8320 (all chips past this are same chip at higher clocks) = can be almost as good as an I5 when DX 12 comes out (holiday 2015). Will play single player (non cpu bound games) very well. Is very near an I5 in Mantle titles (not too many of them) if paired with a AMD GPU. 8320 is an EXCELLENT budget rendering chip though. The chip is a steal in that role. AMD chips can struggle on many current indie titles or badly optimized titles like MMO's. This SHOULD go away in the future.

So all of the above? Have caveats. They can excel in some things not others. There are things on the horizon which may change performance gaps.

I5 = best gaming value. Fast as you need now. Will be just as fast later. Doesn't need optimization and when it gets it, it still isn't behind. If you play tons of multiplayer and PC exclusives (not just next gen games), this is what you get.

I7 = gaming plus other stuff. HEAVY Streaming choice. Or a lot of rendering AND gaming. Just gaming? Overkill. Skip I7 and go bigger on GPU if games are the primary focus, unless you stream A LOT.

2011 board chips. What you get when you are loaded and going big on 3-4 GPU's. We all want it. We can't afford it. :)

So it really depends on what you are using the PC for. Games? Rendering. What kind of games. How big you are going on the GPU. I would never pair a 780TI for instance with a AMD CPU. If I played mostly single player console ports, and multiplayer console ports only and not indie games? A 8320 and a r9 270 would be a good choice. If I loved MMO's/RTS, indie shooters? I5.

GPU? I think r9 270 (now that price has come down again) is the best starter card for 1080p. Then I would move to a GTX 770. Past that, it depends on the market, R9 290 can be the right choice with a brand that is cooled well, so can a GTX 780 or a 780TI. All depends on budget/resolution. Bigger you go on card the more Intel seems to pull ahead. GTX 760 is kind of in a no mans land atm. Other times they gave you some REALLY GOOD games at that price point. The r9 270 doesn't have the heat problems the higher end AMD's have.

Long story short? There is no definite answer. It is an individual choice based on what you play or do and how big you are going on GPU. If you are going GTX 770/r9 280 and up? I would go I5 all the way for a multiplayer GAMING focused build. It is just the sweet spot and the best all around gaming chip at the price point. I have an I7. Gaming isn't all I do. If it was, I would have an I5. :).
