Soundcard or External DAC?

Just entering the world of audio, more specifically, speakers!

 

I got myself a pair of JAMO S801 PM, and don't want to just be limited to the audio quality of my MOBO's onboard sound card. 

 

For JUST a desktop audio setup, which I will be adding a subwoofer to, what would you Hi-Fi geeks suggest? 

 

A DAC or a soundcard? I'm not really that worried about appearance, just cost. I really don't want to spend TOO much on either option. 

 

Budget: $100 or a little bit more. 

 

Any help would be very appreciated!
