So i wanted to record some games and use discord on my pc, but the only mic i had was built into my headphones. It was a single jack, and my pc has a dual front audio system. So i just plug it into the mic and use some earbuds. But it wont pick up hardly any sound. I tried yelling, and even then i had to crank the volume to 100 to barely hear a thing. Ive used this mic on my phone, works fine. For reference, they're Sony MDRsomethings. So i bought a mic, just a $20 BOYA BM-1 Lavalier. I tried this in the front and rear mic jacks, no sound whatsoever. It detects something is there, but no sound. I was using the Xbox game bar screen recorder, but I also tried it in settings and an online mic test. Why wont it work?

Could it be my MoBo? Its a Gigabyte b450m DSH3 V2, and i have an Athlon 3000g. Is it my hardware or am i an idiot? idk

Well embedded sound card might be to blame then.

You can buy external  usb audio interface (my brother uses one from steinberg).

Those don't use 3.5 mm audio jacks though, so you will need extra adapter going to bigger diameter for headphone/mic combo ...
