Ancient Keyboard

hackgod

Hey Guys, so I found a keyboard in my attic and it seems like the connector type is not PS/2 but rather AT connector but I can't find any AT to USB adapters to connect the keyboard to my laptop

That's a DIN connector. You would need an -active- DIN to USB adapter specifically designed for keyboard use since the standards are completely different. I doubt you'll have a ton of luck finding one.

I thought you could go from DIN to PS2 then to USB?

Only if the motherboard supports PS2 or DIN, otherwise the controller won't know what to do with the input and laptops haven't supported PS2 for a long while. I suppose you could go from DIN to PS2 to an active USB adapter but that would be a mess on a laptop and you would still need an active keyboard adapter.

Is the DIN connector and PS/2 connector intercompatible ? I mean can I use this  Active PS/2 connector ?

Should work. DIN and PS2 are passively compatible.

Yes. These are two examples of AT to PS/2 keyboard adapters. The PS/2 end would plug into any PS/2 to USB adapter. I've never had this not work.P1010010.JPG.242a645fd1d50adf39d61d5b57a3965b.JPG
