pc vacuum/ blower cleaner

Go to solution Solved by Chris Pratt,

I bought an Opolar cordless air duster a while back, and it's been great. I'm in the U.S. though, and oddly I can't find it on the Canada Amazon store, but this one looks like the exact same thing, under a different company name:

ok so i keep seeing all these youtubers having vacuums and air blowers for electronics much easier for cleaning. im sick of spending $20 every couple months for 3 cans of air to clean my computer and electronics. does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality one. price is not a concern more concerned about quality i dont wanna be replacing it in a year. ps i live in canada.

I too was flustered, back around April, trying to look for something good. I purchased this and have used it to clean a few computers already. I'll be using it again soon, as I've noticed my rig getting mildly dusty (especially in the front).

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Get a small air compressor with a tank. Excellent for cleaning computers, etc... and can be used for many other things too. It's much more versatile than an "air duster".

I was going to say the same, although it can be a bit clunky to take around, for dusting one computer maybe not, but if you see using compressed air a lot or for other uses It could be a benefit

They used to start around a hundred bucks for a small 110v portable model.  Air tools can be da bomb though for some things.  It’s more or less the only thing you can even put base shoe in with at all.  They basically totally crushed nail spinners.  I needed more power because I like air files (another “da bomb” tool) so I got a 240v one the size of a medium sized pig. It’s got wheels so it’s technically “portable” but not really.  Barely luggable.  The real beauty of air tools is when you’ve got something that needs too big a motor for an electric one to work well.  I’ve got a long throw air hammer the size of an electric drill that can beat an electric jackhammer cutting asphalt.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I've been looking for something like this. Cost effective and environmentally conscious.

When people are working from home... they tend to be a bit more careless when it comes to cleanliness of their laptops. Which is a problem for us IT folks who have to deal with the mess left over. I haven't taken a course in crime scene cleanup... but I feel like we should given the stuff we deal with daily.

Shuddered around that sentance about cleanliness.  I suspect it’s an understatement. Computer innards were never designed to have to deal with dorito dust.

As far as cost effective goes if you’ve got a canister vac how about free?  If you attach the hose to the exaust instead of the intake you got a blower instead of a sucker.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Regular vacuums can create a lot of static electricity, that’s why they make specific types for use on electronics.

im gonna buy a air compressor

There are things about air compressors that have to be kept in mind: air when compressed loses the water it had in it which gathers in the tank and has to be purged periodically. Also water droplets can come out in compressed air which can be problematic.  There are dessicators which will remove water from the line but don’t help with the tank.  If you use airtools they have to be kept oiled.  An in-line oiler will do this for you but will make for air with a bit of oil in it which can cause problems when used to blow off stuff.    I have a desiccator and an oiler.  You may want a desiccator but no oiler.

im just gonna buy a small air compressor such as this one. link below. i will purge after every use. i wont be using it for tools as i have no necessity for that i just want a quality air blower.

The Add on systems like I described are cheap.  That compressor has a standard attachment so it would merely be a matter of plugging the stuff in ahead of the hose. If you wind up having issues you know what to do to fix em now.
