i3 9350kf build and help

Hi all.

I would like to apologies in advanced if i did this wrong as it is my first post to the forum.

I recently decided to move away from my 1050ti laptop and want to ask some help.

I stay in South Africa so the currency is Rands.

I managed to get a i3 9350kf for R1800 and a z370 mini itx board for R200.

I was going to pair the above with a GTX 970 for now and upgrade to a 2060 or 3060 in a few months.

So, my first question is - Is this going to be good enough for light 1080p gaming?

The second question is, do you think it'll run okay in the Fractal Node 202 or should i spend a little extra for the Cooler Master nr200.

If any other info is needed please ask, thank you in advnaced.

That combo with a GTX970 will be still quite capable of playing games. I have a GTX970 in my system and it is performing quite nicely for 1080p gaming, even at higher settings. As for cases, I prefer the looks of NR200 and if you are planning on getting a bigger card in the future it might be the better option.

As you are going mini itx i do suggest undervolting for better temps and so the k cpu isnt completely useless since it has better silicon than the non k variants

Try getting the highest freq you can with 1.2 or 1.25v vcore, which is somewhere around 4.6ghz so the cpu will run abit cooler

And yes that setup will run games just fine though with the 4 core cpu you are gonna be quite limited if you upgrade your gpu

The only issue that will present in newer games is the i3 being a 4core/4thread cpu and when games want more threads it will stutter no matter the settings of the games. So that is something op has to be aware off. This starts in games around 2017 and well the newer you go the more prominent the ask for more threads is.
