Transparent Display with Vantablack background?

Suppose you were to paint the wall behind a transparent TV or Monitor Vantablack (The paint that reflects nearly no light), do you think the picture quality would improve? And if you were to paint the back of a transparent TV would it look like a normal TV with very deep black levels? Or would it look terrible?

 

I don't have the paint or the TV but I am curious.

Displays have light source behind them, if you remove that light source you simply wont see anything. If you were to paint behind backlight, you wouldnt notice it.

Yes, think of it like having black background for a glass. You will need some sort of light source and the best way to have equal light distribution is to have it behind the panel.

I think in his question, having a black wall behind said TV would enhance it.  He's more concerned with the contrast, a dark background would let the TV's lighting pop better.

But would having a black wall behind a transparent screen not just make the screen transparency a useless feature?

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
