It's a really hard find. If your case supports it, a Zalman LQ-310? It does cost a bit more though.

It seems ... unusual to me that a motherboard from a brand like Gigabyte would have a weight limit. I think a 212 would work just fine, but if you don't want to risk it, I'd say your best option is some manner of Liquid Cooler

i think 450g is the limit for the stock amd mount. anything with a backplate will be fine because the backplate spread the load. i have a thors hammer hanging off stock mounts with a delta fan on a 939 board (which is pretty thin compared to modern boards) and that must weigh over 600g.

Why would it only support that much? Are you sure that number is accurate?

According to the FAQ from Gigabyte, that's what they give.

It seems ... unusual to me that a motherboard from a brand like Gigabyte would have a weight limit. I think a 212 would work just fine, but if you don't want to risk it, I'd say your best option is some manner of Liquid Cooler

I am looking into liquid cooling, and right now it looks like it's currently my first choice.

If the 212 evo, a relatively Small HSF, weights considerably over the limit I'd be worried about that mobo. I have an Even cheaper and mobo and it supports heavy coolers. just fine

I'm beginning to think that Gigabyte is just being overly cautious to limit their liability in case someone puts one on and then does something stupid with it.

That would make sense

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how accurate that measurement is... I swear I've seen bigger coolers than the 212 evo hanging of flimsier boards than that.

I am beginning to doubt that the measurement is for anything but the stock mounts. I think the backplate does alter the weight carrying capabilities of the motherboard.

Sound like limit is meaning coolers without backplate. Its same on my board (Z87X-UD3H) which is really sturdy board. I have U14S and I'll check next time tomorrow if there's anything wrong with board.
