Ryzen 5600x loud humming/whining noise

It doesn’t sound like coil whine, it already has coil whine but only hear that when close to the computer.

I can hear this humming/high pitched noise from the other side of my room and it’s really annoying. I’ve seen online it could be c state enabled making it happen, haven’t changed the setting yet but wondering if anyone has dealt with this?

I have a MSI b550m edge wifi motherboard and had the problem on my x570 gigabyte auros. My psu is a 750w hx Corsair.

What graphics card are you using? CPUs, themselves, do not make any noise whatsoever, but the power delivery can, which is a slim chance of coil whine on CPU VRM/power delivery though.

MSI B550M Gaming Edge Wifi

G skill Trident RGB CL18 3600mhz

Ryzen 5600x

Gigabyte OC Gaming 3070

Samsung 980 M2 512gb

Samsung 870 ssd 1tb

This particular noise is not coil whine, it’s not the ticking sort of sound. It sounds like a humming sort of noise. It happens at idle and on boot. If I stress test the cpu the noise comes on.

Are you sure the noise is not coming from the PSU?

I took it out and placed next to pc. Put my head right against my motherboard and it’s definitely coming from the cpu area.

That's soo strange then...well if you tried two different motherboards and still have the same issue, perhaps it is the CPU then. I've just never heard of CPUs making noise whatsoever. Trying to RMA may not work as coil whine does not affect the performance or longevity of computer components.

I had a s462 2600+ that made a tick sound @ 2v vcore. I want to say I had a Q6600 that you could hear too at the top of its clocks.. but it could have been my e6300.

What you are describing is like a resonance.. your sure it isn’t coming from the board itself?

Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14
Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3045/1495 | WD SN850, SN850X
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact, 2x TL-B14

buzzing , humming = coilwhine

so thats what you probably have and since a cpu doesnt have "coils" its probably something on your motherboard.
