Increase laptop cooling efficiency

I have a Asus Vivobook M712 that i daily drive (because my 8700k desktop blew up).

 

The issue im having with it is that it thermal throttles below base clock quite frequently (AMD Ryzen 5 3500U). It has a block that has a single heatpipe and a single turbo-style fan. There is no fan control, no fan profile, nothing i can do to crank the fan to permanent-on, nothing i can do in the way of replacing the fan with a more powerful one because i cant find anything that would fit in place.

 

Seems like the only thing i can do, is replace the stock thermal paste with something that has better conductivity.

 

Knowing that ASUS would likely have put on whatever was cheapest/whatever was at hand, would something like this https://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-mastergel-maker-11-w-mk-scraper-grease-cleaner 11 W/m.k  cooler master stuff make much difference? or would i be throwing money away?

almost anything would be better than that stock paste most of the time, but don't expect miracles. you might drop a few degrees but if the fan won't spin now it'll only spin up later after you change the paste.

liquid metal is the best but it is dangerous to out on if you make a mistake. i use arctic silver, or noctua nt h2. and yes only a few degrees. taking apart my ps3 soon to do a thermal paste swap.

So, ultimately, because i cannot change the fan profile, its pointless because im after more cooling rather than less noise?
