Replicating servers

Hi,

For a customer I am tasked to create a replicating environment. The older host server needs it's VM's replicated to another host as a failover. So the other can take over if need be. The new host needs to sync back to the old host whenever there is an update is made in the data stored on it.

Both are hyper V servers and a running Windows server 2016 and 2019 respectfully

I am currently looking in hyper V replication and are working on a test setup. However I don't know if it's the best way to approach this. And if it's going to work or not in the long run.

Some info:

Host 1 : Server 2016

Host 2 : Server 2019

Data that needs to be replicated : 8 TB

Both hosts are on the same network.

An NAS isn't a solution since there are specific applications that also needs to function in case of a host failure.

If anyone has some suggestions for me thanks in advance 🙂
