Does color calibration matter? (Also looking for 27-32 inch 1440P 144Hz recommendation)

Mark.Twain007

So I am doing a total upgrade on my office space. Redoing the floors, new desk, new chair. Basically new everything except my PC. I'm looking for a new monitor, and I want it to be 1440P and high refresh rate. At the recommendation of another post on here I went to rtings.com and started looking through monitor reviews. One of the things I noticed was a lot of the monitors they reviewed appeared to benefit greatly from color calibration. For anyone that has done it, is it worth it, and what tools did you use?

Having never done it, or seen it done on a monitor or TV I'm wondering how much of a difference it makes.

I've looked at the Xrite i1Display Pro and the Spyder5Pro. is the $160 worth it? I know I could calibrate that monitor plus my other monitors, TV and stuff, and then sell it, as it looks like they retain value pretty well (I'd honestly probably buy it used anyway). Would I need to recalibrate my monitor later in life, like after I move or something?

Also just looking for monitor recommendations in general. so far I think I like the Gigabyte G32QC or the Pixio PXC327.

Depends on how much color accuracy matters. For graphic designers, calibration is a must, and your monitor should be recalibrated at least yearly, since it can lose calibration over time. If you're just gaming or working in Office or something, who cares? It's probably color accurate enough out of the box.
