Hi. im a newbie to linux and am using Pop!_os 20.10. I have an Asus motherboard and armoury crate cannot be installed on Linux. Is there any substitute to this ?? also openrgb doesn't seem to recognise any of the RGB stuff in my system. Are there any apk's that can do this cos I don't want to resort to the command line immediately. I also need a software to control the fans in the system. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

You may need to use a custom kernel with the ASUS patchset, I am not sure if its still needed or not.

My wife has used the XanMod kernel and the Liquorix kernel, which both seem to have the patch necessary for OpenRGB to function. These kernels also contain the FSync patches for Proton.

If you have Corsair Vengeance RGB memory, the system will need to sleep at least once after each startup for it to work properly.

Your best bet will be FanControl, I would however have low expectations. None of my ASUS boards have been compatible with "lm_sensors", which is what FanControl uses, in terms of fan control. You will probably end up having to set a fan curve in the BIOS.

You will need https://github.com/electrified/asus-wmi-sensors if you want to monitor temperatures.

Once asus-wmi-sensors is installed, you can also use use "watch -n.2 sensors" in the terminal to monitor temps, as well as HardInfo.

so I will have to put the system to sleep an then reawaken it ??

Also, yeah. the lm sensors command did not work. Should I just set the fans to max all the time or are the pre applied fan curves fine ??

Are you aware of this linux server OS called proxmox ?? That was the OS we were supposed to run but couldn't because of the Nvidia GPU. I tried to get AMD but it just seems to be non-existent in the area we live in. is there any workaround to get Proxmox running ?? I also couldn't type in the command line while installation because there were no USB 2.0 ports in the motherboard. Is that an actual problem ?? Thanks for your help

To Control the RGB on the memory, probably.

I would just use the pre-applied fan curve for now. I would just monitor temps if you can get asus-wmi-sensors installed.

I have never used it, but I don't see why a NVIDIA GPU would cause problems with it. What problems did you run into?

I personally haven't experienced this issue unfortunately. You should be able to just use your USB 3 Ports.

You could try updating your BIOS or booting a Manjaro live Install to see if the problem persists, if it doesn't happen on Manjaro, you may just need a more upstream kernel.

During installation, a black screen will appear checking if everything is installed. everything other than the graphics card and the front panel audio will not be initialised. The exact error message is Nvidiafb:cannot request PCI regions. Do I have to change to an AMD graphics card ?? I have an rtx 2060. The other way to do this by installing this on top of Debian. But I cannot install debian without ethernet which I do not have.

So, how do I do this ??
