super cheap build

Budget (including currency): 150 gbp [not including screen+mouse&keyboard and stuff]

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: short, simple Blender 3d simulation [with rendering] and light racing games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I want to be able to make 30sec-2min animations, and maybe play a few racing games at 60fps low, do some browsing, edit some short 720p videos for youtube, and make 3d models.

150 GBP sounds a bit optimistic for that.

Do you have a computer now?  Or are you buying a new one?

Xeon X3440 on a supermicro X8sil, 16gb of ecc ddr3, you can find those all over eBay for dirt cheap, make sure to look into memory compatibility because lynnfield is weird about ecc ddr3

Pick up a used older midrange card off of eBay, gtx 560ti or whatever, any functional psu and drive you can find, cram it in a cardboard box

bam, cheap workstation

if you find a decent used nvidia card you can even get a little cuda acceleration

I don't think you should be looking for a custom PC in that price range. Getting an old decommissioned office desktop would be the only sensible option.

mobo comes with 8gb of ram, a cooler and an x3440

its doable, you can even get a case and a pretty average psu

idk what this looks like for your local market, if this is doable out there, but here’s a 200$/150£ PC that will do what you want it to
