Yea with a usb to sata adapter. You will need a powered adapter with 12v input

You'll also need a case for the drive.

 

Honestly, it's better to just buy a USB drive at whatever size you want. USB to SATA adapter + case is likely going to be the same price.

I do it all the time using a powered hub, even with bare drives in a simple adapter.  Much better is to use an ssd as you won’t need external power and its faster. I do use hdds because I have a stack of them and they are cheaper but an ssd is a lot better.
