Overclocking Monitors

idkandidc

So i bought a 60 hz monitor because i am on a tight budget and now i want to overclock it. I have tested to what hz the monitor goes to in the nvidia control panel and it goes to 75 hz now i would be happy with that but i was wondering if overclocking it might significantly decrease its livespan.

It probably isn't actually going to 75hz. You need to got to the ufo test website and make sure, but my TV would let me set 75hz but it was just skipping frames and still running 60hz. My Dell monitor would let me set 120hz but it was skipping frames and running 60hz. Seems to be some kind of thing with the monitor hardware/software being generic across a wide range of screens but the panel itself is what it is.

Mmmhmm I had this with an Asus PB278Q monitor.  You could 'overclock it' to 85hz, but guess what, it's a 60hz panel.  So while it could ingest 85hz, it only spit out 60hz, and you were getting uneven frame times. The user saw '85hz' but was indeed getting an inferior experience.

Exactly what I said but explained better.
