Budget (including currency): $600 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Moderate gaming, workstation, maybe light video editing

Other details:

CPU: 3200G(I plan to overclock)

CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo

Ram: T-Force 2x8 3200MHz

MBoard: MSI B450m Bazooka Max Wifi

SSD: WD Blue SN550 500GB

Case: Phanteks P300A Mesh

PSU: Aresgame 650w 80+ Bronze

Keyboard and Mouse: Havit Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse combo

I'm targeting 1080p or 720p if need be. I already have a monitor, although it is 1440p and kinda big, but thats fine right? Anyway, with GPUs being so expensive now, I'll just use this for now, and when prices start to level out or I see a deal somewhere it'll just be a quick upgrade. Let me know if I messed up anywhere or not, I'm going to buy everything when I wake up tomorrow so I can use the advice!

You can get a cheaper cooler like freezer 34 (non esport non duo) and itll prob perform the same

Maybe swap the psu for something like a corsair cx series, whatever evga bronze series, maybe even neoeco gold

Cause idk if that psu is actually good or its a literal bomb like those chinese unbranded psus

Otherwise decent build

I think for zen+ cpus the max safe volt is around 1.45 or 1.5v but at that point you have already entered the realm of diminishing returns for ocing cause raising freq will require even more voltage than before

You will want to oc your ram as much as possible cause that igpu needs fast ram, maybe 3600 or 4000mhz cl15 or cl14 timings if you can, and you will prob have to shove 1.5v though your ram

Same goes for igpu, oc it as much as possible for more fps in games

Looks decent. You might consider going to a 3400G if you can afford it. This would give you hyperthreading and a better integrated GPU.

The faster RAM helps, but it is dimishing returns really. 3600 Mhz or 4000 Mhz vs 3200 Mhz is perhaps 1-5% faster only, if that.

So i guess focus on timings first then raise the ram freq?

Yes I believe the timings make more of a difference above 3200 Mhz.

In honesty, unless you enjoy tinkering with it, I wouldnt bother. Just get the best RAM you can afford, run it at XMP, and call it a day. If you can afford only 3200 MHz CL16, that is fine. If you can afford 3600 Mhz CL14, go for it. But I would invest in a 3400G over the 3200G before I start worrying about the RAM speeds.

It would be a mistake to get expensive RAM instead of upgrading the CPU first.

I wouldnt want to leave a free performance boost on the table ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Might only give slightly better results but idc

Messing with ram is literally just shove it at a maximum safe volt (1.5v), raise the volt of the imc abit if you wanna oc ram freq, then just go into xmp and mess with the timings, heck its even simpler to just search for other ram that has cl14 or cl15 timings then copying those timings over to your ram
