Hi, a friend of mine just showed me CUDO Miner. When I tried to run it, Microsoft kept telling me that there is a potentially unwanted app and it was CUDO Miner. Is it safe to use? I also don't know if I can trust them and give them my details to recieve the earned revenue. I ran it for a bit already and my hash rate is at 25.5MH/s on my GPU. I am quite sceptical about softwares like this because I don't want anything to happen, so I'm really careful. SO is CUDO Miner safe to use?

Even if there is an app called CUDOminer, I don’t know one way or another, that particular example of it might still not be depending on where it came from.  There is a “verified signature” system I believe.  If the app doesn’t have one there may be a couple of reasons for that.  Some of them are relatively innocuous but several of them are also very much not.  I’ve never heard of an “unwanted” app.  Is that just how you are describing it rather than what windows specifically returned as an error?

Haven't used nor heard of it, so I can't comment on CUDO Miner's safety specifically, but two point regarding crypto miners:

1. Antivirus/malware software will always flag them as miners are used in malware to secretly mine on your computer.
2. Make sure you get it from the legitimate source and not just a random website that has it up for download.

Also keep in mind, mining software may also mine with a commision to the developer. Some are upfront about this, some hide it, some let you disable it or opt in or out.

 

So someone may not even be doing anything else outright malicious like a virus or malware but say for example could misrepresent theirs as a legitimate or original software and have that commission to their address instead, for example.

Haven't come across a miner without a dev-fee yet, but indeed a good point to even more make sure you got the official one.
