I find it very odd however that Windows wouldn't automatically detect the driver and set it to gig speeds.
I removed the driver completely, downloaded the same version from the website on another machine and installed it from a flashdrive. That seemed to fix the issue for whatever magical reason.
Thank you guys for your tips and fast responses! It seems windows was just being windows again.
