College is right around the corner for me and I am looking for a good laptop to be able to do my school work on. I am a person that has a tendency of keeping multiple tabs open so a fair amount of ram is preferable. I think 8gb would be more than enough but im not entirely sure. I would also like for the screen to be 15 in. I am a pre chiropractic major so i am unsure about the amount of power that my laptop would need to be. Any recommendations are welcome. I am currently looking at the surface laptop 4.

thank you

If you don't need your laptop for any occasional video editing or gaming, the surface laptop 4 in any config is a great choice. If you plan on doing any extra tasks on it, then the Dell XPS 15 becomes a better choice because of a proper graphics card, 16gb of ram and bigger storage. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/xps-15-laptop/spd/xps-15-9500-laptop/xn9500ecxns

That laptop overheats like crazy it is on of the worst laptops you can recommend to people.

For op a simple Hp envy x360 15inch with amd ryzen 4000/5000 cpu will more than do the trick.

If you ever do really intensive tasks on it. Make sure to lift the back up by putting a pencil under it or something. The feet are very thin and thus is struggles to take in air. Lifting it up a bit can cause as much as a 40c difference in temperatures.

You could have simply suggested the guy the Asus VivoBook Flip 14 if you wanted a good 2 in 1. The HP is the worst in that category.

An even better option for a normal laptop is the Asus ZenBook 14.

No? It is one of the best ones in that category?

Yes as I said the review is in general positive but complains about the lower performance and high thermals which are solved by literally lifting the back of the laptop a couple millimeters. Yes it is a flaw but this is beyond easily fixable and would be a waste to discard what is usually the cheapest option of the more premium 2in1s. Literally the only reason the spectre x360 does better with a worse heatsink is because the feet are taller.
