Are there any books like Sherlock Holmes other than the works of Agatha Christie?

Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe books should be decent.

I think I have read only one, very long time ago.

 

But compared to Sherlock Holmes books the style is completely different.

Ngaio Marsh, Colin Dexter, Margery Allingham and Elizabeth George are all decent to good with large back catalogues of work.
