There is always overhead for storage.  Seems like a lot though.  Perhaps the checkbox options have something to do with it.  Not sure.  One thought I had is that the drive is mostly empty and the indexing system for the entire drive is added, so if the file was five times the size it is that extra 2gb might remain constant.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

There will be differences due to the minimum disk space a file can use.

Your SSD may use 512 byte sectors, or 4096 byte sectors - these are the most common sizes. A file will use multiple of this sector size on the drive.

This means that any file will use at least 512 bytes of disk space, even if there's just a few bytes.

Just the same, if the file uses 5000 bytes, it will actually use 5120 bytes on the disk (512 bytes x 10 sectors = 5120 bytes)

In your case I suspect it's a combination of what I say above, and maybe some hidden files not being included in your total.

By default, Windows doesn't show all files. You can go in the View tab and there's an options section there where you can check to view all files including system files, protected files etc
