Should I wait for the new PSU standard?

Callidem

I have been watching prices for a while and already have upgraded a few parts of my build and the 850W Core Reactor from XPG has a good price right now. But i've seen the news from LTT and GN that there is a new standard for PSUs coming and I have absolutely no rush to buy, I just want a good PSU that I know can last a good time. Should I wait? I don't mind if I have to change the board also. I'm just wondering if in the next time I have to change my MoBo I'll have to switch the PSU also.

My current build is:

R7 3800X

16GB RAM

512GB NVME SSD

1050ti

ROG Strix B450-F

Corsair 570X Case

ATX 12 V.O. has nothing to do with the PSU/Motherboard durability. It is designed to reduce wires from the bulky 24 pin ATX connector.

The new psu standard is likely also comes with new cpu and motherboard

And the Very few first thing that sell and supports it would be SI or system integrator

So, basically if you want a new psu standard (for whatever reason I don't know) you also need full system upgrade to intel alder lake iirc (or something)

If your psu is fine then don't change it and if it's broken by the time the standard start to get widespread you'll likely to buy an normal atx psu instead of the New atx 12vo one

Because of the electrical and physical compatibility

This. You will only need ATX12VO if you get a motherboard that requires it. And it would be useless with your existing motherboard because it won't power it.
