Windows Software Raid 5 - Files disappearing

NoobsWeStand

Hello,

I've setup a windows raid 5 with 3 3TB WD Blue HHDs.

It's been working fine for the most part, but I've been experiencing issues with it randomly deleting files.

I've scanned all of the hard drives individually with WD's tools, but there was no issues reported. Also windows reports no issues with the drives either. They are about 2.5 years old now.

Windows Write caching was enabled on the hard drives.

Not sure what the issue is. Should I abort with WD Blues and change to NAS hard drives, or is it Windows messing up?

What raid 5? Storage spaces or disk management raid?

God backups? Do you have a list of the missing files?

Id recreate the raid in storage spaces, and restore whats missing with your backups.

Can you compare the files to the backups to find out whats missing?

Is anything off in eventviewer?

Sorry for the late response,

There was nothing notable in the event viewer. I ran a sfc scan for each drive they were clean.

My guess is that I had write caching enabled on the drives and there was a brief power outage.

I rebuilt the windows storage space, and restored from a backup.
