This is my first thread on the Linus Forums,

Basically i have a problem with my computer. I was watching something using VLC media player when my pc cut out and restarted.

After this i couldn't get the pc to boot or post.

System Specs:

Intel core i5 3570k

Samsung 840 EVO

Corsair Dominator RAM 2400mhz

Corsair TX750M PSU

GTX 770

and a storage drive

I have tried different RAM, PSU onboard video. Which lead me to believe it was the motherboard so i RMA'd it but it was found to be working.

i tried my CPU in another motherboard with different RAM and PSU configurations and i got 3 short beeps with no display (Asrock motherboard)

After researching this i found it could be a RAM problem but i have tried 4 different sticks of RAM from my server machine and the same error.

so i am currently trying to RMA my CPU to intel but it is OEM and out of warranty.

Does anyone have any ideas on what else could be the problem?

And if it would be worth upgrading to Haswell with a new CPU and mobo?

Thank you for you're time

Reuben

Only thing I can think of is that the mortarboard they sent you back may be faulty :/

CPU: i7 3770k @4.5Ghz 1.26v Cooler: H100i 2 Sp120 Quiets MoBo: MSI Z77 MPOWER Big Bang RAM: 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133Mhz CL9 Graphics Card: Asus Direct CU II R9 290 Storage: Vertex 4 128GB, WD Black 1TB Case: NZXT H440 Green

but i tested the CPU in another motherboard and no luck. they tested my current motherboard and said they couldn't find a fault.

Oh my bad for some reason I thought you got a new CPU too. Its more than likely your CPU then, I take it your don't have a spare 1155 CPU do you?

must me cpu wait for haswell-e if no warranty

Haswell-E is still a few months away, I'm not OP but I sure wouldn't want to be without a computer for a few months.

Sorry to bring back this thread, but I have now bought a new processor and still no f***ing luck.... Either the company who tested my mobo are a group of monkeys.. or something else is wrong that I don't understand?

I have even tried different Cpu coolers different power leads and wall sockets....

Any ideas please

Sorry to post again, I get a message saying the first time, memory/Cpu changed f1 setup f2 default settings, but what ever I press the mobo restarts, after that I get an overclock failure message on the reboot. I did not have an overclock when the computer broke and only get this the second time

Maybe it's a corrupted BIOS now? Is there any way to try and flash a new one to it?
