To be clear, I already have a working computer that is starting to die off in gaming performance. I'm just looking for a new GPU to upgrade, since my buy queue in a computer store to get a GPU at MSRP is approaching soon, maybe in a week or two. Will be mainly used for games, occasional streams, rarely any production work done. I switch it up between 1080p and 1440p monitors, but I only run one monitor at once. Mostly 1080p though.

Current computer specs:

Ryzen 5 3600

2x8Gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3200CL16

Gigabyte 1660 Super

Seasonic GX-650

Right now I'm not even getting 70fps in Warzone with low settings, and in other games like Apex or World of Tanks it's hard to get a stable 144fps past the medium settings. My target performance would be at least 120fps (more is better of course) with high settings in these games at 1080p, and med settings at 1440p if possible (the latter if not possible to squeeze into the budget I'm fine without it I guess). I have a budget of about $600+USD (can stretch to $700 if needed). Going by the budget, an AIB 3070 makes the most sense financially, but I have doubts whether it will be enough, or maybe my power supply will not be enough, or if some other component will bottleneck something else.

Would like someone to advise what card to get, and if it's an AIB one, any brands/models to look out for. Will happily provide any extra information required. Thanks!

youre probably gonna want a 3080 or 3090

Damn. In that case then is upgrading now a wrong choice? If I grab a 3080I will probably need to upgrade my power supply as well, and with my budget of $600 that's just not possible. So...is my best bet to just save the money and just endure the performance of my current PC?

you have a 1660 , the majority are "enduring" with much worse.

I'd actually look into more why your machine is under performing and diagnose the problems it currently has vs simply trying to buy out of it.

It's not underperforming. It performs just how a 1660 Super is expected to perform. I'm not trying to buy out of anything, the 1660 Super just can't keep up with my needs anymore, that is all. In esports titles it runs fine, sure, but once you step out of that slightly it just crumbles.
