Razer Basalisk Essential RGB question

I'm fairly sure I know the answer but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something.

I need the Razer Synapse app running to prevent the mouse from reverting to the default color cycling, yes? Is there any way to get it to 'remember' the last lighting setting before the app is closed? If not, are the screws under the sliders on the bottom? I'll just 'lobotomize' the RGB inside it. Other functions work with Synapse closed like DPI cycling. Anyone know of any work arounds for the lighting?

 

SOLVED MAYBE: Open Synapse, turn brightness to OFF, right click exit all apps, mouse stays dark. I'll update if it stays that way after uninstalling and rebooting eventually.
